A Woman's Place is a contemporary work that explores how
women operate in a patriarchal corporate structure. The work
specifically highlights how the pressure to break through the
"glass ceiling" and earn
a "seat at the table" creates competition between women. This is
a structure created by men that keeps women preoccupied and
distracted. The
choreography features extremely athletic movement to highlight
the brutality women are often subjected to, while simultaneously
showcasing the strength within women needed to operate in that
environment. A Woman's Place was commissioned to premiere
in Art In Motion.
